Unlike some qualifications, there are no entry requirements for AAT, and you do not need to be working in an accounting role. This means that AAT is an ideal starting point for school and college leavers, or anyone considering a career change.

However, to enrol onto the Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping (Level 3) AAT qualification, you must be able to demonstrate appropriate knowledge, so it is our recommendation that you begin with the Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping or Accounting (Level 2) before progressing onto this level.

* Please note: if you have faced bankruptcy or have a criminal conviction your application may not be accepted.

All AAT assessments are computer based, you have full flexibility to progress through your qualification at your own pace, with our dedicated support to help you every step of the way.

Assessments can be taken at centres local to you and our dedicated bookings team will make all of the arrangements, taking away any hassle and leaving you to focus on their studies.

There are three computer-based examinations, where you will obtain your result immediately.

* One sitting of each assessment is included in the course fee. Re-sits will be charged separately.

Unit 1: Advanced Bookkeeping

This unit will allow you to apply the principles of advanced double-entry bookkeeping, implement procedures for the acquisition and disposal of non-current assets, prepare and record depreciation calculations, record period end adjustments and produce and extend the trial balance.

Unit 2: Final Accounts Preparation
